Filmed over 5 years, Dying to Divorce from producer Sinead Kirwan follows a courageous lawyer who is determined to challenge the misogynistic violence and rising femicide numbers in Turkey.
We spoke with the Scotland-based producer all about how she came to be involved with this project, why the film is of universal relevance and what message she hopes audiences will take away from watching it.
Dying to Divorceis directed by Chloe Fairweather with funding provided by Screen Scotland. The film is the UK's Official Submission for International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards and is also entered into the Best Documentary category. In addition, it has been submitted to the BAFTA’s for Best Documentary and Film Not in the English Language categories.
The film is available to view now on both the Oscar and Bafta portal.
