Screen Scotland celebrates the life of the indomitable producer Paddy Higson, who has sadly passed away.
Paddy’s extraordinary body of work includes some of Scotland’s best-known films: That Sinking Feeling, Comfort and Joy, Gregory’s Girl, Silent Scream, Orphans, and Restless Natives, as well as work on Taggart, Cardiac Arrest and Monarch of the Glen.
A stalwart of Scotland’s film community until the end, she was respected by all who met her and had the pleasure of seeking her advice. This was reflected in the countless careers she fostered across the industry in Scotland. Her generosity of spirit and time, providing invaluable mentorship to more than one generation of Scottish filmmakers.
Through her work as CEO, and later Patron, of GMAC, Paddy continued to build the future of the Scottish film and TV industry until very recently, providing vital opportunities for people of all backgrounds to make their first film.
Paddy was a pioneer of the film and TV industry in Scotland. Our thoughts are with Paddy’s family at this very sad time.
