The winners of the BAFTA Scotland Awards 2024 have been announced this evening at a special ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central in Glasgow, hosted by presenter Edith Bowman. The BAFTA Scotland Awards honour excellence and celebrate talent across Scotland’s screen industries.
Float received the award for Television Scripted.
Out of Darkness scooped a total of three awards on the night. The film was awarded for Feature Film. The two young leads of the film, Kit Young and Safia Oakley-Green, triumphed in the Actor Film and Actress Film categories respectively.
David Tennant received the award for Actor Television for his role in There She Goes. In Actress Television, Doon Mackichan took home the award for her return to Two Doors Down.
The BAFTA Scotland Audience Award in partnership with Screen Scotland, the only BAFTA Scotland Award voted for by members of the public, went to Ashley Storrie for her performance in Dinosaur.
Ashley Storrie celebrated another win, alongside Dinosaur co-creator Matilda Curtis, for Writer Film/Television (in partnership with Screen Scotland).
Saul Metzstein received the award for Director Fiction for his work on Slow Horses. Director Factual was awarded to Kevin Macdonald for High & Low – John Galliano.
The Agency: Unfiltered scooped the award for Entertainment. Features went to Extraordinary Escapes with Sandi Toksvig.
The Short Film & Animation category was won by Blackwool.
Not Your Average Family received the award for Factual Series. Liar: The Fake Grooming Scandal won Single Documentary, and News and Current Affairs was awarded to Catching a Killer: The Murder of Emma Caldwell (Disclosure).
Trailblazing producer, writer and film festival director Lynda Myles was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Film award. She was honoured during the ceremony with a special VT featuring snippets from an event held earlier in the year which celebrated her life and work.
Casting Director, Des Hamilton received the Outstanding Contribution to Craft (In Memory of Robert McCann. One of BAFTA Scotland’s highest accolades, the award was presented to him by close friend, actor Tommy Flanagan.
Commentator Andrew Cotter presented Hazel Irvine with the Outstanding Contribution to Television, given in recognition of an exceptional standard of work across a long career.
15 competitive awards in total were presented across the evening as well as two BAFTA special awards. View the full list of winners.
The ceremony was streamed live on BAFTA YouTube channel and is available to watch on YouTube. A highlights programme will be broadcast on BBC Scotland at 10.30pm on Wednesday 20 November, with a repeat that same night at 11.40pm on BBC One Scotland, and will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
