MOVE Summit is back for 2024

MOVE Summit, Scotland’s premiere animation and VFX gathering, brings together international creatives, industry leaders, students, and educators to Edinburgh on the 21 - 23 February 2024 to celebrate the joy of making things move!

Based in the historic Pleasance Courtyard in Edinburgh, the event has three days of inspiring talks, workshops, creative reviews, screenings, live pitching, an exhibition and recruitment fair, tech demos, networking, and business development - all focused around the latest and greatest in the international animation and VFX industries.

The magic of MOVE is in the celebration of each others’ creativity, artistry, and technical accomplishments. It’s a great opportunity to hear from world-class studios, discover how the latest projects were made, get insights into how creative challenges were overcome, learn new tricks and tips, and see some unique works-in-progress.

MOVE Summit features a stellar line up with speakers including; Jane Wu (Blue Eye Samurai), Kent Seki (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Paramount), Troy Quane (Nimona, Netflix), Jack Liang (Polygon Pictures), Simon Hughes & Tallulah Baker (Poor Things, Union VFX), Chris McKenna (MPC),  James Williams (Migration, Illumination), Emilie Bach (Julián, Cartoon Saloon), Torsten Schrank (Klaus), and Nathan Jurevicius (Scarygirl) plus many more!

Building on previous years’ successes you can also find the Business @ MOVE strand, a dedicated business programme bringing together independent studios and producers with commissioners, broadcasters, agencies, and industry bodies to explore mutually beneficial opportunities and explore practices of getting work made.

Find out more about the programme and book tickets on the MOVE Summit website.

Background

MOVE Summit 2024 is made possible thanks to the generous support of our funders and partners: Screen Scotland, Interference Pattern, Wild Child Animation, Eyebolls, Toon Boom, ScreenSkills, Axis Studios, Saffrey and HeeHaw.

Co-founded by the director of Interference Pattern, Tom Bryant (The Lost Thing, Best Animated Short Film Oscar winner, 2010), MOVE Summit has grown year on year to sold out audiences. In 2017, its inaugural year, 240 delegates attended over the course of one day. In 2020 MOVE took over the entire Pleasance Courtyard. Today the event attracts around 1,000 delegates and speakers over three days.

Wednesday 21 February is Emerging Talent Day, aimed at students. The 22nd and 23rd are Industry Days, dedicated to animation industry professionals.

MOVE Summit has been Scotland’s premiere animation gathering since 2017, delivering keynote speakers from international studios, demos from leading software experts, workshops, panels, creative reviews, exhibitors, and recruitment, as well as fun evening networking activities at MOVE Late. MOVE brings together animation industry leaders, practitioners, and students, across 2D and 3D animation, VR/AR, VFX, motion graphics, design, and games, joined by creative educators and industry support agencies, to create a community-led, dynamic, and accessible event for the entire industry.
