Are you a fan of TV comedy with a talent for organizing events? BBC Comedy and Screen Scotland are offering an exciting opportunity to produce two comedy short film nights in Glasgow to showcase on and off-screen comedy talent from across the UK. This opportunity is open to individuals or companies based in Scotland.
The events will highlight the best of short form comedy to an audience which will include BBC Comedy Commissioners as well as industry professionals, established talent and comedy fans.
If you’re passionate about comedy, experienced in event production and based in Scotland, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
What we’re offering
We’re offering a £5,000 bursary including VAT to curate, host and produce two comedy short film night events in Glasgow. You will have significant freedom and creativity when curating/sourcing the comedy shorts in collaboration with the BBC Comedy commissioning team, who will approve the shorts and details for the events.
Both nights must take place in Glasgow.
Who can apply
This opportunity is open to individuals or companies based in Scotland who have a strong passion for comedy.
Applicants must:

demonstrate experience in producing comedy events and/or live stand-up comedy on TV or digital platforms
-
be over 18 years-old
-
be able to prove their passion for comedy, especially scripted comedy

have experience of managing events such as screenings, productions, stand-up comedy, theatre and/or networking

have experience of or a desire to spot and develop up-and coming comedy talent
How to apply
The deadline for applications is Wednesday 23 October 2024 at midnight.
Fill in the application form (Word) on the BBC's website which includes basic eligibility information and gives us a sense of why this is the right opportunity for you.
Create a two-page pitch which sells your vision and gets across the scale and tone of your idea. This should include potential venues and two to three examples of existing shorts that you like to demonstrate the tone of your screening. It should also include a brief draft budget breakdown.
Attach your CV showing that you have the practical skills required to manage and deliver your vision, with a commitment to producing broadcast comedy.
